As WeWork prepares to IPO, it's fascinating to look at the additional ventures they've set up in their short history.

→ They're a convenience store [WeMRKT].
→ They're (yet another) Airbnb competitor [WeLive].
→ They'll even educate the next generation, if you're interested [WeGrow].

I have lots of thoughts & feelings about what I refer to as the era of aggregation (so drop by if you ever want to chat it up about that), and I feel like this squarely falls into that camp. The underlying theme of all these We____ businesses is an ethos, not just a corporate designation. It's an interesting school of thought (pun fully intended) as we continue to grow ourselves.

In a very "only in SF" kind of way, there's a new spin on the We[insert money-making-moniker] → WePark. For folks that don't want to work alone but just can't spring for WeWork prices.

The more we know, the smarter our marketing is. This TED article about how to save money has super intriguing nuggets when it comes to nuances in messaging.

One of their tests included:
“Hey, you’re getting older. Are you ready for retirement?
House sharing can help.”
vs.
“You’re 64 turning 65. Are you ready for retirement?
House sharing can help.”

Give it a read. You'll learn some money tips and see how small changes in our narrative can encourage action. → TED Ideas: Want to save more money? Try these three evidence-backed tactics

All the feels on this Friday. Here's a great example of the power of emotion in marketing. Grab a tissue before watching this spot from a TV station out of Denmark. → All that we share – connected

If you're running out of good ideas for what to buy this Mother's Day (friendly reminder: It's May 12), what about some Amazon stock? QB Russell Wilson thought it was a good gift idea.

Nuggets of Wisdom

And what I have come to learn, slowly, is that community is about a series of small choices and everyday actions: how to spend a Saturday, what to do when a neighbor falls ill, how to make time when there is none. Community is knowing others and being known; investing in somewhere instead of trying to be everywhere. And communities are built, like Legos, one brick at a time. There’s no hack.
